| Powered by a 1,200-watt heating element and solidly constructed of cast aluminum for evenly distributing and retaining heat, this waffle maker bakes four 4-1/4-inch waffles at once and readily releases them from grids coated with a rugged nonstick surface. A control on the front provides seven browning settings from light to dark. A red light shows when power is on, and a green light signals when the grids are properly heated to receive batter. A tone sounds when waffles are browned according to the selected setting. The waffler measures 10 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches high, and 13 inches deep (including the stay-cool handle). For compact storage, it stands upright and there's a cord-wrap with plug-holder underneath. The waffler carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack |

| My wife bought this for me on Fathers Day and we have used it at least three to four times a month since we got it. This is one nice Waffle maker, built very sturdy. I've never had a waffle stick, just set the automatic timer that lets you know when the waffles are done, reach in with a plastic fork (don't want to scratch the non-stick surface) then pop them loose and they come right out. Not like my old waffle maker where I had to spray it every time I used it. Just be sure to follow instructions when you first get it about how to treat the surface. I would definitely recommend this product 5 stars + + + + +. |
Sturdy, solid waffle iron |

| The waffle iron is heavy - just like the one my Mother had when I was a kid. The heavy lid is great at preventing overcooking the middle and undercooking the edges. However, you should really follow the directions included in the instruction booklet for pouring the batter onto the iron, as that helps the waffles cook evenly.
The key is to use a spatula to spread the batter evenly around to the edges before closing the lid. Come to think of it, that's what my Mom used to do with her iron. As some reviewers said, the center does cook a bit more than the edges, but if you use the spatula, that problem is virtually eliminated. If others are getting poor results, I suggest using the spatula method, or send it back for repair or replacement. I only wish I could duplicate the batter recipe found at Waffle House or those other roadside diners - now that would make it perfect! |

| This appliance definitely works as described, has quality craftsmanship and makes large, evenly browned waffles. The audible 'ready' signal is like a single bird chirp; not too irritating and handy when you're multitasking. The browning slide lever slides a little too easily and may get nudged off your preferred browning level when wrapping the cord, etc. In case it gets nudged away from your preferred browning level, you may want to mark your number with a permanent marker. |

| I had been looking for a REAL waffle iron (not a Belgian waffler) for a while for my husband. I was thrilled to find this one! It has all the bells and whistles to let you know when it is hot (ready to cook) and when the waffles are cooked. I would buy this waffle iron again in a heartbeat. |

| I won't repeat the detailed reviews below, but they're right on target. This machine is a wonderful addition to my breakfast (and dinner and dessert!) options. I remember my mother struggling to use (and store) the old waffle iron when I was a kid. That kept me from getting one until now. The VillaWare works great. The waffles don't stick, it's easy to clean and it stores upright. What more could I ask for? |
Best wafller yet |

| This is the best waffle maker I have ever used. I have not had any luck with previous wafflers. The waffles would always burn or get stuck and they would be a mess to clean up. With this VillaWare waffler I have made several batches of waffles and the waffles come out cleanly with no sticking whatsoever. It is a breeze to clean as well. |

| We have one of these. We love it. We wanted to buy one for our son's wedding. Cook's Wares sent us the wrong waffler. We sent it back. They're trying to find what we ordered -- which apparently isn't made anymore. It's been at least two weeks and we haven't heard anything yet. They have our money, but we have nothing so far! |
Diner style waffles anyone? |
| Review Date: September 12, 2002 |
| Reviewer: Cascadia, Issaquah, WA |
| The term "classic" to describe this waffler is absolutely correct. It makes the epitome of an all-American diner waffle with small, shallow indentations that is thinner than the Belgian waffle. When I think of beautiful photographs of waffles in cookbooks and magazines, I think this waffler must be what they used. I received mine and proceeded to make plain waffles within 5 minutes of opening the box. I used Golden Malt flour and their recipe for waffles that included egg, water, and butter (but I used oil) being that this was only a test run. I have yet to try other recipes such as chocolate or gingerbread waffles, but I'm sure they'll be just as wonderful. My waffles were somewhat evenly browned (does ANY waffler manage to brown 100% evenly?) and "golden" although they did look a bit pale and I thought they weren't done until I touched them with a fork and found that they were certainly crispy. I think the crisp-factor is the most important thing here for serious waffle eaters...not so much the color. The iron itself seems to be of solid construction and the lid doesn't wobble very much like many other waffle irons do. It is large, but that's to be expected since it makes 4 waffles. I'm not sure if they sell a 2-waffle model or not, but it seems like a bit of a waste since standing up, the width would be the same anyway. It's only the height that is affected by adding another row of waffles. If you can fit a 2-waffle iron in your cupboard, you can fit this one. In other waffle irons I've used (and tossed), the steam from the cooking waffles seems to keep them too soggy, but for whatever reason, that doesn't happen with this one. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars is because A. there was no 4.5 star option and B. because I *did* have to turn the dial all the way up to 7 in order to get my waffles to the desired doneness. They were crisp, but not browned at lower settings. Here's a hint: If you like your waffles ultra crisp, instead of hunting around for the perfect waffle iron (there isn't one), just freeze your waffles and toast them a la Eggo waffles...they will surely be crispy then (plus, you'll have waffles on hand at any given time). As for the "waffle alert" that tells you when the waffles are done... I don't see any negative reviews here, but with other VillaWare products that have this feature, I've seen many negative reviews claiming the beeping sounds more like a fire alarm. I'm not sure what brand of fire alarm *they're* using, but I'd replace it if it's that quiet. The beeping on the waffler isn't even as loud as an alarm clock alarm. It certainly isn't as loud as a fire alarm. No, my hearing isn't bad and I don't wear a hearing aide. I think perhaps the other reviewers were either ultra sensitive to sound (i.e. they had dog-hearing) or perhaps VillaWare replaced the beeping mechanism on the waffler with something softer sounding (although some of the reviews are very recent, so I doubt that's the case). In any event, don't let the negative reviews of the alarm from other VW products keep you from buying this waffler. If you love waffles like I love waffles, you'll be happy with it. |

| My wife likes Belgian waffles and I like the ordinary kind. We had been using a sunbeam waffle maker that we got for a wedding present and a Black and Decker Belgian waffle maker that we'd picked up in the Eighties. Both of these were getting pretty ratty. I replaced them for our 30th anniversary with a Hoffritz HZBW4 4-Slice Belgian waffler and a Villaware 2001C classic waffler. I liked the looks of the Hoffritz, but couldn't find it in a regular waffle. Anyway, we've been using them for a couple of months now, and here's the take on them: They're both great, but I like the Hoffritz better. I like the digital controls. It takes a little longer to cook a waffle than the Villaware, but just long enough to take care of the waffle from the Villaware before the Hoffritz signals it's done. They both have audible "ready" signals and lights. The Hoffritz is quite a bit larger than the Villaware. They both look good. They both cook great waffles. The Villaware has kind of a tacky mechanical lever for setting how "done" you want your waffle; this lever does not ratchet, so it is easy to accidentally change the setting. This is the main reason I don't give this product a "5". The Hoffritz has a button for a "crispy" waffle; I haven't noticed that it does anything different when set; set at "3" it makes the waffles crispy like my wife prefers. I like my waffles less crispy; I've been using the Villaware set at "5," but I think I'm going to try jacking it up a little, as the waffles are pretty pale, although "done". The outside of the Villaware seems to get hotter than the Hoffritz; and stays hot a lot longer; maybe because it's made of cast aluminum rather than the Hoffritz's stainless steel. I read a review of a waffler where the person was complaining about the outside getting dangerously hot. As far as I know that's true of all wafflers, and neither of these are an exception. Bottom line, they're both imminently satisfying, if I had to choose between the two, I'd want them to make a Hoffritz that cooks "regular" waffles. |

| So, I have absolutely NO experience with waffle irons. I received this as a wedding gift and we used it to make a Christmas brunch this year. My mother, who remembers using older fashioned waffle irons, was just a-twitter with praise for this iron. It didn't split them in half, it cooked the waffles nicely (don't know if I like them crispy or not yet) and it DIDN'T STICK. I think that has got to be the most important feature of a waffle iron. We liked the "ready" indicator, both for temperature and done. The alarm was a tad shrill but would definitely alert you to attend to your waffles especially if you tend to multitask in the kitchen. This was very user-friendly. Overall 4 stars. Can't go five since I haven't experienced anything better or worse to compare it to. I like this iron very much. |
Quality waffle maker |

| This is a sturdy waffle maker that makes really good waffles with little effort. I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars because I have experienced a little unevenness in temperature (the center seems to get cooked a little faster than the ends...other reviewers have discussed this), but it is very negligible.
I replaced a cheaper waffle maker from Phillips that was impossible to clean up and the batter always overflowed over the back. I never have a problem with this one, since it has large overflow reservoirs. The recipes that come with this one for American Waffles and Belgian Waffles are superb. |

| Most noteworthy feature of this quality heavy duty family waffle maker is its quick recovery - the 2nd, 3rd, 4th batches cook as quickly as the first. This is not typical of all competitors' waffle makers and buyers who intend to cook for a family should consider this when comparison shopping. I bought through Amazon because this model was recommended to me, and I could not find it in any local store. Too bad there was no choice of shipping options, I received it in 2 days but at a very high "shipping cost" - could have waited longer for a less expensive method. |

| This was my second waffle iron, first one a different brand. I did not like this one, it has a "waffle tone" that sounds like the smoke alarm going off, it went off when it preheated, when the waffle was ready, when the waffle iron cooled a little and reheated, it went off way too often. Made all of us nervous. Waffle quality did not come out great, either. Disappointed, still looking for a belgian waffle iron instead. But will definetly not buy one with that awful waffle tone. |
Not As Good As It Seems |

| I bought this waffle iron for my husband as a gift, and I must say it was disappointing on Sunday morning, after reading through the manual, washing it, preparing batter, etc, and eagerly anticipating a waffle breakfast for the family - to find that the waffles were unevenly cooked, flat in some parts, risen/puffy on others, mostly burnt in the middle. I decided to check online for reviews and apparently others have had the same experience. We won't be keeping it for a second run. Not worth the bucks we paid at a well known kitchen retail store. We plan to go back to the $30-$50 range and look for a more reliable inexpensive model. |
Save Your Money, Look for Another Brand |

| Along with all the true comments about the unevenly cooked waffles, and the smoke alarm style alert, the unit is unstable when storing. After wrapping the cord, I pick up the unit by the loop hand to store it, but the loop only allows one side to be held. Once it was off the counter and over the floor, the other side opened, pinched my fingernail. This resulted in a drop unit, which shattered into 10 or so pieces. Poorly designed, should have a latch to keep unit closed when storing. |
Careful - It's a Square Waffle but they use a round element |
| Review Date: August 29, 2008 |
| Reviewer: PSG, |
| As others have said, this waffle iron clearly uses a round heating element in a square iron. Of course that leads to uneven cooking where the center gets overdone, while the edges are just barely cooked.
I would not have expected that sort of compromise for such an expensive product. I still have not found a suitable replacement waffle iron for my old GE and Sunbeam units which worked great for many years before they died. |

| Reviewer: K. D. Olsen, Minnesota |
| Bottom line? This pan does exactly what it says it does. The first time I used it, I was a bit worried because the fried egg seemed to stick, but what I learned was that you have to wait just a few extra seconds of cook time than you would think before turning the egg to get it to flip easily. After that use, I haven't had any issues with anything sticking. It cleans off easily with water immediately after use and if I let it set with some food goo on it for a while, it still cleans off just as easily. Using metal utensils work the best for getting under things and they do leave a slight scratched look to the surface, but it doesn't affect the function of the pan. I never set it above medium. The heat distribution is wonderfully even. The bottom of this pan is actually a round piece of the compressed aluminum. I plan to buy more pans. I can see this lasting for many years! |

A fantastic waffle press! |

| This waffle iron is great, and I've had several different brands/models so I speak from past experience (I make waffles at least twice a week). It heats up quickly and the controls are very logical. The darkness adjustment has a very nice range - from VERY light to quite dark. If your waffle recipe has no sugar at all, I suggest adding just a tad to aid browning. Without sugar, it is difficult for proper caramelization to occur.
This waffler has great audible signals, so you can make waffles while you're walking around the kitchen doing other stuff - there's no need to watch for a light to turn off. That is a feature I especially enjoy, because it's quite boring to sit and watch a waffle maker cook or wait for it to heat up. I whip up my waffle batter and start making waffles while I'm preparing the rest of breakfast. When I hear a beep, I turn around, pull the waffle out, add more batter, and go back to what I was doing. To get the most enjoyment from your waffler, I recommend purchasing a portioning scoop. A scoop will change your life when making waffles and pancakes - measuring cups just don't work a tenth as well. A #10 scoop is just about perfect, because if you fill it up with thick waffle batter and don't level it off, you'll get almost a perfect half-cup of batter, which is exactly what this waffler handles well. A #12 is fine too, but you will have to really overload it if you don't want to leave any space. A #8 is too big - it would need to be leveled off, which is a messy pain. This waffler will make perfect waffles with no incomplete edges if you have a properly leavened recipe and use exactly 1/2 cup of batter. The shape of these waffles were a surprise to me - I was expecting a thicker Belgian waffle of the type you see in restaurants. Instead, these waffles are more like large Eggo waffles and are just over one-half inch thick. I was actually happy to see that, as Belgian waffles are not preferred by waffle connoisseurs because they don't have the right interior-exterior balance. In my opinion, these waffles are PERFECTLY shaped and just the right thickness. They also split apart nicely without tearing, which is nice if you only want a half-waffle. Finally, this waffler is quite easy to clean. If you stick to the half-cup rule, you will very rarely have overflow, and in that case it has a nice channel to catch the drips, which usually end up cooked anyway and easily lift off with the waffle. One last thing - here's the recipe I recommend using with this waffler. I've had great results with it. I will assume you properly know how to mix together ingredients (i.e., wet and dry mixed separately, then put together until moist but still lumpy - DON'T OVERMIX). Wet: 1 3/4 c. buttermilk or homemade yogurt, two eggs, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, 4 tbsp. melted butter. Dry: 2 c. unbleached flour, 3/4 tsp. baking soda. These ingredients yield enough batter for about 7 waffles with this waffle maker, and each waffle will have about 250 calories. These waffles freeze very well if you let them air-dry on a rack and then stack them up in a freezer bag; they come apart easily while frozen, just reheat in a toaster oven for easy and quick morning breakfasts. There is NO REASON to buy supermarket frozen waffles anymore! Safety note: Probably not a great appliance for kids to use alone, as the top and bottom both get very hot and the top swings free when the lid is open. |

| This waffle maker is the bomb. I've had mine for almost a year now and am completely satisfied with it. It reaches operational heat in a couple of minutes and then cranks out the waffles. Once it has initially reached its operational temperature it quickly reheats (as in less than a minute) for the next waffle. This thing works so fast I wouldn't hesitate to cook waffles for a dozen people or more. The temperature controller works well and it is easy to adjust your waffle from any level of soft and chewy to brown and crispy, or a combination of the two. It is easy to clean as well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. The alarms and lights are still working well. I love it. |

| I purchased the Chef's Choice M840B Waffle maker for my husband for Christmas and now it is my favorite small kitchen appliance. Makes the best waffles ever, nice and crispy on outside and moist inside. The recovery time is almost nil so you can take one waffle out and immediately place new batter in maker. For me, the secret to the batter (store bought or your own recipe)is an extra tablespoon sugar for crispiness. The batter should be thick and be sure to let it rest about 3 to 5 minutes after mixing. I use the Racheal Ray Lazy Ladle to measure the amount of batter for each waffle......just a little less than 1/2 cup. Can't say enough about this little appliance. |

Decent for the price, but check out the M840 and M850 also |

| This is a very good waffle iron for its price class. Fairly powerful and versatile. But it can't compare to it's much pricier and superior sibling, the M850. If you are a waffle fanatic and can afford it, I recommend the M850, it cooks hotter, makes bigger waffles, etc. In this price range I prefer this unit's heart style sibling, the M840 (yes I actually really own all three models - waffles are a passion of mine). The reason I like it better is that the grid holes are smaller which lends itself better to softer waffles, especially ones with chocolate chips, blueberries or other ingredients that taste better when baked within the dough as opposed to being fried against the waffle iron plating. Sometimes a doughier softer waffle is just fun too, and the M840 does that best because of it's smaller grid indents. Sometimes a crisper well done waffle hits the spot and the M850 does that best because of its higher wattage and larger fancier grid plates. The M840B doesn't crisp as much as the M850, yet will burn chocolate chips, blueberries, etc. more than the M840 because of the larger belgian grid pattern increasing the waffle iron plating exposure to the batter. So, although a good waffle iron, it represents a compromise. If you really like the larger belgian grid pattern to hold more syrup or toppings, and don't want to invest in a high priced unit like the M850, this is a good one. If you prefer traditional waffles, the M840 heart style is probably a better choice (it's essentially a normal waffle grid pattern with the squares squished into diamond shapes). If you want the power to make a truly crisp or ice cream cone textured waffle, then the M850 is the necessary choice. I've been using mine daily for quite a few months and had no problems. The brand seems to be well thought out and the build quality seems more than adequate. Whichever model you pick, enjoy! A good waffle for breakfast is a great way to get the day started right. |

| The product works well after sending back the 1st one. Also I did not get reimbursed for the shipping and handling costs. It was stated that it would be reimbursed. I am thinking twice before I buy from Amazon again.

| We eat homemade waffles at least once a month. I bought this model as a Christmas gift based on the three somewhat positive reviews. Also we owned a few other products from Chef's Choice and are very satisfied. To our disappointment, it was defective out of the box. I am returning it and getting a new unit, same model. I will revisit this review when we get to use the new unit. |

| Deep-pocketed Belgian waffles cook in 90 seconds or less with this 1100-watt WafflePro from Chef’s Choice. The waffle maker’s unique Quad Baking System allows a choice of texture, color, aroma, and flavor for each individual waffle. No longer just a breakfast treat with maple syrup, waffles on the crisp side make a perfect dessert when paired with ice cream, while kids love moist brownie waffles for an after-school snack. Recipes are included in the user guide. A rocker switch lets you choose between a faster baked waffle with a crisp exterior, moist interior, and heady aroma, or one cooked more slowly with a uniform texture throughout. The color control dial offers individual preference ranging from light golden brown to dark brown. Each 6-1/2-inch round waffle is quartered, allowing it to be divided easily between hungry kids or served as wedge-shape ‘cookies.’ The WafflePro also features nonstick plates and an overflow channel that wipe clean, a floating hinge to maintain even baking over varying thicknesses, and a beeper that sounds five times when cooking is done. Green and red baking lights make the whole procedure a snap. The cord wraps neatly underneath and the maker stands upright for compact storage. The waffle maker measures 8-1/2 by 9-1/2 by 3 inches and comes with a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri |

| We have wanted a good belgian waffle and haven't been able to find one until now. I started by reading all the reviews on all brands of belgian waffle makers. I liked what Chef's Choice reviews said. I ordered it and haven't been sorry. We use it at least once a week. It's not very big, but it can put out the waffles fast. They come out just the way we like them, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I like it because you can control just how crisp you want it on the outside. I highly recommend this waffle maker. |
Definately Above the Rest |

| Like other reviewers, I looked carefully before choosing this waffle maker. While not the cheapest, I am very happy with it. It makes fantastic waffles, is super easy to use, and is very easy to clean. I was surprised when the instructions stated that you only need to oil the iron once (the first time you use it), and this has proven to be true. The iron needs minimal cleaning after use; in fact, the instructions state that you should not scrub the iron after use - just wipe off any excess batter and put it away. I think the oil in the batter stays on the iron, but am not sure.
There is a wide channel running alongside the iron that catches any spill-overs and sends them down toward the front of the machine, keeping the machine and my counter clean. Others have pointed out the temperature adjustment feature on this machine, which is straightforward and eay to use. Other machines just had a slider that gave no indication of whether one position was hot, not hot, or whatnot. This one has a series of numbers as well as labels like "lighter" and "darker." Usually, I leave it on 4, but occasionally use 5 - it just depends on the recipe you're using and how crispy you like your waffles. Speaking of crispy, the one distinct feature of this machine is that there is a switch that alters the way that the waffle is baked, depending on the type of waffle you are making. According to the instruction manual, the switch changes the recovery time of the waffle iron. So, if you are cooking a desert waffle that is crispy, you use the switch to slow down the recovery time so the waffle iron takes longer to get back up to temperature, which has the effect of baking the waffle evenly from the inside out. For a regular waffle, the iron will recover much faster, which browns the outside while leaving the inside moist - precisely the effect you want. In any case, a neat feature if you like crispy waffles. Finally, you can roll up the cord underneath the machine and stand it on its end (notice that the back of the machine is flat). This takes up a lot less space in my cabinet. Overall, I would highly recommend this waffle iron to anyone who wants to buy one that is easy to use and will give them years of use. I spent quite a bit of time looking for this in the hopes of being able to avoid repeating this exercise a year from now. I am confident that I will be using this machine for many years to come. |
Great Waffles...Great Price |

| I've owned this waffle maker for over a year now and have given it as a gift. It heats up fast and provides a lot of flexibility in doneness. Easy to clean its non-stick surface. Like all similar machines, don't overfill with batter and the clean-up is minimal. It also stores well in a small space. I see that the newer model has a locking mechanism for storage. Nice, but not needed.
I use Carbon's malted waffle mix. I've never seen it in the stores, but you can order it from their website. It's the same mix used by Marriott's Residence Inn chain and comes in several flavors. Blueberry and Pumpkin are our favs, and the plain can be used as a base for your own creativity. |
Great waffles FAST at a great price |
| Review Date: September 15, 2007 |
| Reviewer: Latte, OH, USA |
| We have 5 kids and we love waffles, but I have suffered through some cheap waffle makers and wasn't willing to do that again. Also, I wanted something that could make them fast, so I wasn't left standing at the counter while everyone else was eating.
I looked at the KitchenAid model that makes 2 at a time, and was really tempted, but $200 is just too much for a waffle maker for our family. And, it is huge to store. I wanted something that was not too big to store, reasonable (for me that was $50 or less per iron) and worked fast. After reading reviews on the KitchenAid, the Waring Pro, the Hamilton Beach Flip and Fluff and this one (and probably a lot of others, too!), I decided that buying TWO of this one might do the trick, at half the cost of the KitchenAid. So I bought 2!! They arrived yesterday, and I just pulled one of them out of the box to give it a try. We were able to make a delicious lunch in good time for all 5 children and myself, just using ONE of the waffle irons. I was impressed. We used the "moist interior" setting and it was delicious. Cleanup is so easy. The manual recommends 1/2 cup batter per waffle, and if you stick with this, it practically never overflows. I brushed the plates (per manual instructions) with oil before beginning the first waffle and they all came off beautifully with my silicone spatula. Now I'm wondering if I even need the 2nd one, since this one makes good waffles so fast. I think we will keep it, though, and have company on Sunday evenings for Waffle Night! I'll update my review for durability after we have had it for awhile. UPDATE: I ended up selling the 2nd waffle iron to a friend, because 1 does a fine job of making waffles for our family of 7 people. There's a little waiting, but not much, and we're happy using just one, so my friend gets a good deal, too! She & her family are really enjoying it. |

| Cooks waffle fast and evenly. Has a beeper so when waffles are done it lets you know. Had cheap waffle makers before and had
to keep checking to see if the waffle was done and they took a lot longer to cook. Love the Chef's Choice WafflePro, might be a little more expensive, but well worth the money. |
A great first waffle maker for a novice |
| Review Date: May 31, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Nebula, Northern CA |
| This is my first waffle maker, and I'm quite pleased with it so far. I wasn't an aficionado before, but after two months of delicious waffles, I think I'm becoming one.
I'm a lazy cook, and I started out using Krusteaz Belgian waffle mix (just add water). It produced a great waffle, but then I read the nutrition label. One waffle has 850mg of sodium, and I sometimes eat two at a sitting! 1700mg of sodium was unacceptable, so I did some research and created my own healthy (-er) but still easy waffle recipe. This makes 4 waffles; you can always double or triple it if you want more: 1.25 cups of whole wheat flour (I like Stone-Buhr brand, 12g fiber per cup) 1 tablespoon sugar (promotes browning) 1.5 teaspoon baking powder (Hain Featherweight has NO SODIUM!) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup egg substitute (Egg Beaters et al; no fat or cholesterol; reduces splitting) 3 tablespoons olive oil (really promotes release from the non-stick surface) 3/4 cup milk (1% works fine) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Sift the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Beat the wet ingredients together for a bit of airiness, then add to the dry stuff. Stir together slowly with a spoon, just enough to get all the dry ingredients wet, but still a bit lumpy. Don't overmix! The batter should be very thick and pour slowly; stir in more milk or flour to fine-tune it. The Chef's Choice 830B takes exactly one half cup of batter; after pouring it in, immediately press down gently on the lid handle for ten seconds or so to distribute the batter. The "Crisp Exterior/Moist Interior" setting worked as advertised (when I set the color control dial to the highest setting), but by the time I got the waffle to the table, the wonderful moisture inside had migrated to the outside and softened the crisp exterior. Although it still tasted pretty good, it wasn't what I'd hoped for. Instead, the "Uniform Texture" setting (with color control set to the 4-5 range) dried out the interior of the waffle, yet left it surprisingly fluffy while still nice and crisp on the outside. Since (per the manual) you shouldn't clean the non-stick surface with anything more than water and a soft cloth, don't use a cooking spray like Pam, because the propellants and other additives build up on the surface and can't be removed. With enough oil in the batter, the grid comes totally clean. If you add fruit to the batter, it can stick to the grid, requiring some cleaning and re-oiling. It works better to put fresh fruit on top of the cooked waffle instead. |

| I simply love this Chef's Choice waffle maker and think it can't be beat. It makes wonderful waffles, one after another, very quickly. The fact that it will stand up for storage is a great asset since it takes up little space. I have already gotten another one for a Christmas present. Love it, love it, love it! |

| After hemming and hawing over which waffle maker to purchase, I finally decided on this one and, oh boy, I am stoked! This is THE best waffle maker out there, period. I like crunchier waffles, my husband likes them toasted on the outside but moist inside. This baby delivers every time to perfection! There are no cons. If you want a waffle maker get this one. This one beeps when it's ready so you don't have to watch it like other ones. You will want to eat 24-7 with this one! Oh! Clean up is a cinch. You wipe it down and voila.. you're done! |
Mmmmmm! Waffles.... |

| This waffle iron has seen a serious workout since Christmas morning. I purchased this for my daughter-in-law and the grandkids. It hasn't seen the inside of a cupboard yet! The waffle iron is really fast, easy to clean and doesn't take up much counter space. I read all of the reviews and decided this was the best for my money. So far, perfect!
June 04, 2008: I just checked with my daughter-in-law, it's still going strong! It may not get used daily, but it does get used weekly. She says it's easy to adjust and still quick. |
Finally! A waffle maker that works! |

| I finally tossed our old waffle iron because the waffles always stuck! This Chef's Choice is excellent! You oil it once, before you use it the first time, and that's it! You can choose how dark or light you want them. No guessing when they're done; a bell rings and the green light goes on, and it's been perfect each time. The cord wraps around the bottom and it stores on end, making it easy to keep out of the way on my counter. I couldn't be happier with it. |
