| Deep-pocketed Belgian waffles cook in 90 seconds or less with this 1100-watt WafflePro from Chef’s Choice. The waffle maker’s unique Quad Baking System allows a choice of texture, color, aroma, and flavor for each individual waffle. No longer just a breakfast treat with maple syrup, waffles on the crisp side make a perfect dessert when paired with ice cream, while kids love moist brownie waffles for an after-school snack. Recipes are included in the user guide. A rocker switch lets you choose between a faster baked waffle with a crisp exterior, moist interior, and heady aroma, or one cooked more slowly with a uniform texture throughout. The color control dial offers individual preference ranging from light golden brown to dark brown. Each 6-1/2-inch round waffle is quartered, allowing it to be divided easily between hungry kids or served as wedge-shape ‘cookies.’ The WafflePro also features nonstick plates and an overflow channel that wipe clean, a floating hinge to maintain even baking over varying thicknesses, and a beeper that sounds five times when cooking is done. Green and red baking lights make the whole procedure a snap. The cord wraps neatly underneath and the maker stands upright for compact storage. The waffle maker measures 8-1/2 by 9-1/2 by 3 inches and comes with a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri |

| We have wanted a good belgian waffle and haven't been able to find one until now. I started by reading all the reviews on all brands of belgian waffle makers. I liked what Chef's Choice reviews said. I ordered it and haven't been sorry. We use it at least once a week. It's not very big, but it can put out the waffles fast. They come out just the way we like them, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I like it because you can control just how crisp you want it on the outside. I highly recommend this waffle maker. |
Definately Above the Rest |

| Like other reviewers, I looked carefully before choosing this waffle maker. While not the cheapest, I am very happy with it. It makes fantastic waffles, is super easy to use, and is very easy to clean. I was surprised when the instructions stated that you only need to oil the iron once (the first time you use it), and this has proven to be true. The iron needs minimal cleaning after use; in fact, the instructions state that you should not scrub the iron after use - just wipe off any excess batter and put it away. I think the oil in the batter stays on the iron, but am not sure.
There is a wide channel running alongside the iron that catches any spill-overs and sends them down toward the front of the machine, keeping the machine and my counter clean. Others have pointed out the temperature adjustment feature on this machine, which is straightforward and eay to use. Other machines just had a slider that gave no indication of whether one position was hot, not hot, or whatnot. This one has a series of numbers as well as labels like "lighter" and "darker." Usually, I leave it on 4, but occasionally use 5 - it just depends on the recipe you're using and how crispy you like your waffles. Speaking of crispy, the one distinct feature of this machine is that there is a switch that alters the way that the waffle is baked, depending on the type of waffle you are making. According to the instruction manual, the switch changes the recovery time of the waffle iron. So, if you are cooking a desert waffle that is crispy, you use the switch to slow down the recovery time so the waffle iron takes longer to get back up to temperature, which has the effect of baking the waffle evenly from the inside out. For a regular waffle, the iron will recover much faster, which browns the outside while leaving the inside moist - precisely the effect you want. In any case, a neat feature if you like crispy waffles. Finally, you can roll up the cord underneath the machine and stand it on its end (notice that the back of the machine is flat). This takes up a lot less space in my cabinet. Overall, I would highly recommend this waffle iron to anyone who wants to buy one that is easy to use and will give them years of use. I spent quite a bit of time looking for this in the hopes of being able to avoid repeating this exercise a year from now. I am confident that I will be using this machine for many years to come. |
Great Waffles...Great Price |

| I've owned this waffle maker for over a year now and have given it as a gift. It heats up fast and provides a lot of flexibility in doneness. Easy to clean its non-stick surface. Like all similar machines, don't overfill with batter and the clean-up is minimal. It also stores well in a small space. I see that the newer model has a locking mechanism for storage. Nice, but not needed.
I use Carbon's malted waffle mix. I've never seen it in the stores, but you can order it from their website. It's the same mix used by Marriott's Residence Inn chain and comes in several flavors. Blueberry and Pumpkin are our favs, and the plain can be used as a base for your own creativity. |
Great waffles FAST at a great price |

| We have 5 kids and we love waffles, but I have suffered through some cheap waffle makers and wasn't willing to do that again. Also, I wanted something that could make them fast, so I wasn't left standing at the counter while everyone else was eating.
I looked at the KitchenAid model that makes 2 at a time, and was really tempted, but $200 is just too much for a waffle maker for our family. And, it is huge to store. I wanted something that was not too big to store, reasonable (for me that was $50 or less per iron) and worked fast. After reading reviews on the KitchenAid, the Waring Pro, the Hamilton Beach Flip and Fluff and this one (and probably a lot of others, too!), I decided that buying TWO of this one might do the trick, at half the cost of the KitchenAid. So I bought 2!! They arrived yesterday, and I just pulled one of them out of the box to give it a try. We were able to make a delicious lunch in good time for all 5 children and myself, just using ONE of the waffle irons. I was impressed. We used the "moist interior" setting and it was delicious. Cleanup is so easy. The manual recommends 1/2 cup batter per waffle, and if you stick with this, it practically never overflows. I brushed the plates (per manual instructions) with oil before beginning the first waffle and they all came off beautifully with my silicone spatula. Now I'm wondering if I even need the 2nd one, since this one makes good waffles so fast. I think we will keep it, though, and have company on Sunday evenings for Waffle Night! I'll update my review for durability after we have had it for awhile. UPDATE: I ended up selling the 2nd waffle iron to a friend, because 1 does a fine job of making waffles for our family of 7 people. There's a little waiting, but not much, and we're happy using just one, so my friend gets a good deal, too! She & her family are really enjoying it. |

| Cooks waffle fast and evenly. Has a beeper so when waffles are done it lets you know. Had cheap waffle makers before and had
to keep checking to see if the waffle was done and they took a lot longer to cook. Love the Chef's Choice WafflePro, might be a little more expensive, but well worth the money. |
A great first waffle maker for a novice |
| Review Date: May 31, 2008 |
| Reviewer: Nebula, Northern CA |
| This is my first waffle maker, and I'm quite pleased with it so far. I wasn't an aficionado before, but after two months of delicious waffles, I think I'm becoming one.
I'm a lazy cook, and I started out using Krusteaz Belgian waffle mix (just add water). It produced a great waffle, but then I read the nutrition label. One waffle has 850mg of sodium, and I sometimes eat two at a sitting! 1700mg of sodium was unacceptable, so I did some research and created my own healthy (-er) but still easy waffle recipe. This makes 4 waffles; you can always double or triple it if you want more: 1.25 cups of whole wheat flour (I like Stone-Buhr brand, 12g fiber per cup) 1 tablespoon sugar (promotes browning) 1.5 teaspoon baking powder (Hain Featherweight has NO SODIUM!) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup egg substitute (Egg Beaters et al; no fat or cholesterol; reduces splitting) 3 tablespoons olive oil (really promotes release from the non-stick surface) 3/4 cup milk (1% works fine) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Sift the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Beat the wet ingredients together for a bit of airiness, then add to the dry stuff. Stir together slowly with a spoon, just enough to get all the dry ingredients wet, but still a bit lumpy. Don't overmix! The batter should be very thick and pour slowly; stir in more milk or flour to fine-tune it. The Chef's Choice 830B takes exactly one half cup of batter; after pouring it in, immediately press down gently on the lid handle for ten seconds or so to distribute the batter. The "Crisp Exterior/Moist Interior" setting worked as advertised (when I set the color control dial to the highest setting), but by the time I got the waffle to the table, the wonderful moisture inside had migrated to the outside and softened the crisp exterior. Although it still tasted pretty good, it wasn't what I'd hoped for. Instead, the "Uniform Texture" setting (with color control set to the 4-5 range) dried out the interior of the waffle, yet left it surprisingly fluffy while still nice and crisp on the outside. Since (per the manual) you shouldn't clean the non-stick surface with anything more than water and a soft cloth, don't use a cooking spray like Pam, because the propellants and other additives build up on the surface and can't be removed. With enough oil in the batter, the grid comes totally clean. If you add fruit to the batter, it can stick to the grid, requiring some cleaning and re-oiling. It works better to put fresh fruit on top of the cooked waffle instead. |

| I simply love this Chef's Choice waffle maker and think it can't be beat. It makes wonderful waffles, one after another, very quickly. The fact that it will stand up for storage is a great asset since it takes up little space. I have already gotten another one for a Christmas present. Love it, love it, love it! |

| After hemming and hawing over which waffle maker to purchase, I finally decided on this one and, oh boy, I am stoked! This is THE best waffle maker out there, period. I like crunchier waffles, my husband likes them toasted on the outside but moist inside. This baby delivers every time to perfection! There are no cons. If you want a waffle maker get this one. This one beeps when it's ready so you don't have to watch it like other ones. You will want to eat 24-7 with this one! Oh! Clean up is a cinch. You wipe it down and voila.. you're done! |

| This waffle iron has seen a serious workout since Christmas morning. I purchased this for my daughter-in-law and the grandkids. It hasn't seen the inside of a cupboard yet! The waffle iron is really fast, easy to clean and doesn't take up much counter space. I read all of the reviews and decided this was the best for my money. So far, perfect!
June 04, 2008: I just checked with my daughter-in-law, it's still going strong! It may not get used daily, but it does get used weekly. She says it's easy to adjust and still quick. |
Finally! A waffle maker that works! |

| I finally tossed our old waffle iron because the waffles always stuck! This Chef's Choice is excellent! You oil it once, before you use it the first time, and that's it! You can choose how dark or light you want them. No guessing when they're done; a bell rings and the green light goes on, and it's been perfect each time. The cord wraps around the bottom and it stores on end, making it easy to keep out of the way on my counter. I couldn't be happier with it. |
Great Product |

| This product has everything you could want in a Belgian Waffle Maker.
You can select the texture you want whether it is crisp or moist. It actually bakes the waffle in 90 seconds and the beeper is loud enough so that you can hear it. The waffles do not stick to the waffle baker. Included are great recipes to make all kinds of waffles. I highly recommend this product. It is well worth the money. Mary A. Jones |

| I love this waffle maker! I prefer my waffles softer and my family prefers them crispier. This waffle maker can make them either way without any problems. It is so easy to clean too, just a wipe off with a rag and you are done. I highly recommend this waffle maker. |
Chef's Choice is the perfect choice! |

| I had never owned a waffle maker before and purchased this Chef's Choice model based on positive reviews. I was not disappointed in my choice. This is a great little kitchen appliance! The perfect Belgian Waffle Maker! I used the recipe for Basic Waffles in the instruction manual, and my whole family loved them. Best of all, they were easy to make and clean-up was a breeze. It takes a mere minute and a half to cook one scrumptious waffle so it didn't take a lot of time to cook a batch for the whole family. Look no further if you need a waffle maker. The price is great also and the waffle iron has really nice features--including a buzzer to tell you when your waffle is ready! Perfect every time. |
Exactly What I Was Looking For |

| I have wanted an excellent quality round Belgian Waffle Iron for a while. Unable to find one locally, I started researching them on Amazon and I read almost every review and product specification of each one listed here. I also visited the website of each of the manufacturers. This was the one I finally settled on and I have been so excited awaiting it's arrival! (Thanks to each of you for taking the time to give your opinion of your the waffle iron you purchased) A couple of times I thought "nothing is ever as good as it claims to be so I need to be prepared to be disappointed". But just the opposite is true - it has exceeded all my expectations! I used it for the first time this morning and the results were fantastic.
You can tell that it's good quality when you first pick it up - it's sturdily built with the heftiness you would expect. It comes with a nice little instruction booklet (I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was written by someone whose first language is English) including a couple of recipes and detailed instructions on the use of the product. The controls were a major deciding factor on my purchase. They are well engineered and elevated at the rear of the iron so that if you happen to overfill the base, the overflow can't get into them and gum up the works. But you won't have a problem if you follow the directions in your booklet and if you make your batter thick enough. You can control the crispness as well as the darkness of your waffle and believe it or not, all of the controls (including the timer) are ACCURATE! The waffles are done in almost no time. The green light comes on to tell you when they're done but you don't have to stand there and watch because the timer also beeps. And while loud enough to be heard above my radio in the kitchen, the sound was not annoying. When you're finished cooking just let the iron cool down and wipe it out with a paper towel. For storage the cord wraps neatly and fastens securely in the track provided on the bottom so the iron can stand vertically to take up less space. Also, I like the way that the lid is on a floating hinge so the waffle has more room to rise but still gets evenly browned. I did find something while researching this product that I think is worth mentioning. While I really don't think it will have any adverse effect on the purchase of this product, it seems that they are phasing-out the Chef's Choice brand. Apparently they are now calling all the Chef's Choice products by the manufacturer's name - Edgecraft (for example: Edgecraft 830B WafflePro Classic Belgian Waffle Maker). However, the products themselves still have "Chef's Choice" printed on them. They seem to have made some superficial changes to the design (the obvious one was that the irons now have a ridged instead of a smooth lid) and they have raised the prices but as far as I can tell it's still the same product - the specifications are all still the same. It has just been within this last week that they have started to implement the change and as of right now the style that I bought is still the one shown on their website. It may or may not take a while until the phase-out is complete so if you are looking for a good waffle iron, I highly recommend you take the plunge and buy this one before you have to pay more for the redesign. |

| I have been looking for a Belgian Waffle Maker since I ate Belgian Waffles on the last cruise I took. After researching waffle irons and reading reviews, I decided that the Chef's Choice 830B waffle iron was the product for me. I do not have a big kitchen, so the size was a concern also. After receiving this waffle iron, I have not been sorry I got it. The waffles are the best and so easy to make. And the clean up is a breeze - there is barely any clean up. The waffles were a hit with my son who stated that he never wants to eat frozen waffles again. I have used the Aunt Jemima Pancake and Waffle Mix and also used Krusteaz Belgian Waffle Mix, both are good and easy. The instruction book also comes with recipes to try. I am very pleased with this product. |
